The Indian Ocean Beach Resort was opened in 1992 as an exclusive, luxury resort. The Kenyan coast was once ruled by the rich Sultans of Zanzibar, hence the architecture is Arabic and a lot of antiques from the Sultan's Palace have been used as part of the interior decoration. The main reception has an antique chandelier given to the Sultan by the British traders for landing rights. The resort has 100 rooms, all handsomely crafted and beautifully furnished and finished. The hotel offers four restaurants, four bars and a range of watersport activities.

Hemingways Resort, Watamu Bay (near Malindi)
